At an elevation of 11,990 feet, Loveland Pass sits on the Continental Divide and offers panoramic mountain views year-round. It’s one of the most photogenic engagement session locations near Breckenridge and ideal for couples who love adventure, nature, and golden hour light.

  • Distance from Breckenridge: 40 minutes
  • Best Seasons: Late June to early October (for wildflowers & dry trails)
  • Winter Note: The Lake Pass is not accessible during the winter time!
  • Access: Park at the Lake Pass parking lot.

Tips for Engagement Photos at Loveland Pass


  • Dress in Layers: Even in summer, it gets chilly at the summit — especially after the sun sets.
  • Footwear: Wear comfortable hiking boots or shoes with grip. We’ll walk over rocks and soft tundra.
  • Timing: Plan to arrive 1h before sunset for the best golden light, and about 15min after sunrise for the best morning light!
  • Permits: No photo permit is needed for casual portrait sessions as of now. (2025)
